The NRCS (National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications) requires import documentation to be completed if you are intending to import a vehicle or if you have legally imported a vehicle. Your import documents can be obtained with the assistance of Red Tape.
All imported vehicles must be registered with the South African Licensing Department in order to use the vehicle on South African roads.
You need to be registered as an importer in order to bring vehicles into the country.
All individuals and companies wanting to import vehicles and goods exceeding the value of R150,000 in a calendar year must be registered as importers in South Africa.
Please note that all vehicles can only be imported under the registered owner's name.
If you have purchased a vehicle and wish to import it, you MUST register as an importer.
