If you plan to export your vehicle permanently, vehicle export and clearance documentation is required by SAP Licensing (customs) and ITAC (International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa) if you would like to export your vehicle permanently.
If you are planning to go on holiday to a foreign country in your vehicle you will need a Temporary Export Clearance.
We will obtain all documentation for you including Letters of Authority (LoA).
Vehicle export clearance documentation is issued by an appointed member of the SAPS.
The vehicle to be exported must be presented at the designated SAPS office depending on the area where the vehicle is registered, together with the necessary documents to obtain a Export Police Clearance or "SARPCO" clearance (Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi. Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe).
Vehicle export permits are obtained from ITAC in Pretoria. Although copies of Export Permits are legally acceptable it seems that cross border agencies prefer the originals due to the high incidence of fraud and vehicle theft.
You MUST register as a vehicle exporter.
All individuals and companies wanting to import/export vehicles and goods exceeding the value of R150,000 in a calendar year must be registered as exporters in South Africa.
Please note that all vehicles can only be exported under the registered owner's name. If you have purchased a vehicle and wish to export it, you MUST register as an exporter.
Red Tape is licensed as a import/export registrar - contact us to get your licence.
If you would like to export and sell your vehicle outside the country, you MUST register with SARS as an exporter.
